Bunting hypocritical over Chinese

Published:Saturday | August 12, 2017 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The Gleaner's story on Peter Bunting complaining about the Chinese is most unfortunate. My take from what he has put forward is political opportunism - nothing more.

Peter Bunting needs to explain why when he was in Government, he did not do something about the influx of Chinese into the country? It is hypocritical of him to now make the sudden discovery.

The Gleaner needs to ask him what happened.

Many of the big contracts that the Chinese have were signed under the People's National Party. The Goat Islands were nearly sold to the Chinese. Prime land was given away to the Chinese. Did Bunting have any concerns then?

He does have a few valid points, but the stink of his hypocrisy overshadows those points.
