Women who attacked Jamaican in British Virgin Islands charged

Two women who reportedly wounded a Jamaican woman during a confrontation at a bar in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) earlier this month, have been charged with unlawful and malicious wounding.

The BVI police report that Jelissa Malone and Melicia Bodkin from Tortola where both offered station bail.

BVI News Online reports that the Jamaican woman was at the bar when the two women, who are unknown to her, allegedly attacked and beat her severely.

The wounded Jamaican woman, whose name was not released, was treated at hospital.

Malone and Bodkin will be allowed to plead and tell their side of the story when they appear in court on June 23.
