The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) is reminding the candidates contesting the Friday, May18 by-election in the Homestead Division in St. Catherine South Central that all campaigning activities should end as of today.

The Jamaica Labour Party's Mark McLean and the People's National Party's Janette Grayson are contesting the by-election.

The EOJ says all is in place for the by-election, noting that it has ensured the timely preparation and distribution of all necessary materials as well as the training of Election Day workers.

The polls will open at 7 a.m. and will close at 5 p.m., after which the preliminary counting of ballots will take place.

The EOJ says it will be using its Electronic Voter Identification System to identify the division's 9,471 registered voters.

It further says voting will take place in 33 polling stations across five voting locations.

The EOJ is cautioning voters that the use or display of cell phones and cameras is not allowed inside polling stations on Election Day.
