Distinguishing himself both in public and political service, Norman Horne's greatest success is in the field of commerce and industry, and on Monday, the businessman was among the over 220 Jamaicans recognised for their contribution to Jamaica's development.
Bestowed with the Order of Distinction, Commander Class, Horne, managing director of Arc Manufacturing, celebrated with a host of friends, family members, and business associates at the fabulous Valencia at the Spanish Court Hotel.
The formal event, easily one of the biggest parties in the capital city, was attended by Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his wife, Juliet, and chairman of the People's National Party Fitz Jackson.
"He is a good team player for team Jamaica," acknowledged Holness as he lauded the man who he said was among the innovative business operators responsible for the country's growth.
"The growth of Jamaica depends on the growth of our businesses, and Jamaica has to support its entrepreneurial talents, and I want to use this platform to make an appeal because it is time for us to embrace businesses. Time not to be shy about people seeking to make a profit. Time for us to celebrate entrepreneurial spirit. Time to promote people who are creative. Time to produce businessmen and celebrate them," said Holness in an impassioned plea.
He also pointed out that this year, the Government spent significant effort to ensure that a constellation of Jamaicans who have contributed to brightening Jamaica was captured.
